It’s been a crazy few weeks and we are here bracing for the possibility of hurricane Iota to send more rain. Today we’ve had strong winds and rain, then nothing, repeat. The ground is still saturated and there are mudslides daily. Some of our students are being evacuated from their homes as I write this as there is a very real possibility that the ground gives way. There have been homes and families wiped out, villages underwater, so much destruction! And all that, not when hurricane Eta wasn’t even coming directly for us!
In the midst of it all, God is faithful. A friend of ours told us how his cousin was in a motorcycle accident a few weeks ago. The whole family went to the capital city with him to take him to a doctor. When they arrived back home after hurricane Eta, their house was completely gone. They would have all potentially died if not for the motorcycle accident. (there are still hundreds missing in this village)
We have been busy making food for displaced people. Collecting clothing and groceries for giving out. Visiting people who have lost their jobs. There is so much to do! We are so grateful for our staff and church members who are stepping out and being God’s hands and feet in this time of emergency! Please keep us all in your prayers!
