i’m entitled…

In North America we are taught that we can do anything, be anything and we deserve everything.

I live in a country where being middle class doesn’t mean that you have: a fridge (much less a freezer) a phone line, screens on windows (much less air conditioning), any type of indoor heating, internet, hot water in any tap, couches, any vehicle, a savings account (much less any type of life or health insurance), kitchen cupboards, closets, washing machine (much less a dryer), kitchen sink, gidgets and gadgets, all sorts of electronics and the list could go on and on. There are so many things that we think a person can’t live without, ahh but they can! All I have to do is go to the gate in our yard, look out and I can see half a dozen homes that most of North America would call completely inhabitable!

I’m entitled to be thankful!

Over half of our windows have screens to keep the insects out, this is a luxury that I know so few people who can boast the same I could count them on one hand!

One example, a young couple in our church don’t have a refrigerator or electricity… well the only power they have is an extension cord that comes through a window. They’ve been living this way ever since they were married over a year ago; she has to go buy her groceries everyday so they don’t go bad. They are so thankful to own their own, unfinished home! This is just one story among so many other, more extreme stories!

The truth is, in this life we are actually entitled to very little, some people are not even given the right to live! Freedom, freedom of speech, freedom to be able to own and read a bible, even the right to an opinion and so much more are all things that others would consider a luxury!

1Th 5:18 “give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. “

We are entitled to be thankful!

This is what God has been teaching me! Let me know if God used this in any way to speak to you!
